Our annual Lobby Day is coming up fast!
On March 17th, CELA members will take to the halls of the State Capitol, meeting with members of the Legislature to discuss CELA’s top priorities, including strengthening whistleblower protections and anti-discrimination laws, protecting worker privacy, advancing gender pay equity and family leave rights, and combatting wage theft! This will be an exciting opportunity for CELA members to meet and network with legislators and their staff.
Plus, we are thrilled to co-host an event that evening/after Lobby Day at the Crest Theater:
NEVERTHELESS – Documentary Film Screening
Our members will be part of a special documentary screening on the night of March 17th, co-hosted with the California Legislative Women’s Caucus! Taking place at an historic theater just blocks from the Capitol, we will join legislative leaders, advocates, and filmmaker, Sarah Moshman, for a VIP reception and panel discussion on the #MeToo movement (how far we’ve come and how far we have to go), followed by a screening of Moshman’s documentary film, NEVERTHELESS, which features several CELA members! The film follows our efforts to pass SB 1300, tells the intimate stories of individuals who experienced sexual harassment in the workplace, and shines a light on the ways in which we can shift our culture and rebuild. This is an event you will not want to miss!

9:30 – 10:30am – Breakfast and Lobby Day Orientation (Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel)
11:00am – 12:00pm – Lobby Visits at the State Capitol
12:00 – 1:30pm – Lobby Day Picture in the Senate Chambers and Lunch
1:30 – 4:30 pm – Lobby Visits at the State Capitol
5:00 – 6:00pm – VIP reception and panel discussion with Senator Jackson and other legislative leaders and advocates (Crest Theater)
6:00 – 7:30pm – Documentary Film Screening of Nevertheless (Crest Theater)
